I was driving the other day and had the opportunity to witness a rare event. While I was at a red light waiting, there was a person who was completely asleep in his car at the light to the right of me. He wasn't just asleep, his head was completely back with his head over the head rest and his mouth was wide open.

At first I couldn't believe what I saw. I pointed it out to Lynette, my wife and we both got a laugh.

What made this situation even more bizarre was that there was a cop who pulled over another car and this was approximately 35 feet away from the guy who was sleeping at the intersection. There was a truck directly behind the sleeping man and since the light was green the person in the truck was beeping his horn over and over. The guy was still sound asleep. The cars to the right and left of me noticed the guy and they were beeping their horns as well.

The guy was still asleep! Finally, the truck went around the guy and left him there, beeping as he went. The guy was still asleep.

While I was at my red light, I couldn't help myself so I whipped out my phone and took a picture of the guy, but because my light had just turned green and I have to actually go on green, I ended up with a blurry picture (Bummer).

Since all the honking did not work, one truck, the truck to the left of me tried to flag down the cop to alert him to the sleeper. I don't think that he had any luck because he had a lot of traffic behind him and had to keep going.

Thanks to the sleeping guy, we now have a very clear example of the phrase, “Wake Up, O sleeper.”

This guy is us!!!!

We have the opportunity (the green light) to repent of our act. Brothers and Sisters are (honking their horns at us) engaging us daily to help us get out of what is entangling us. And we are still asleep.

We have our own personal truck behind us and the presence of the cop (the fear of God?) that could do it, but no, we're still asleep at the green light.

Hey, you might laugh at this guy (I did), but know that you should also see yourself in the same light. You are in Snoozeville!

It is time to wake up and go.
